Merchant Account

An account with Acquirer that allows the Merchant to accept Credit and Debit Card Transactions.

How does Merchant Account work?

A Merchant Account is an Account Number issued by Acquirer for a specific Merchant. This Account Number is similar to other unique Account Numbers issued by Issuer, but is specifically issued to Merchant to identify it as the owner of the Transaction data. Merchant Accounts are subject to varying fees which can be implemented through monthly billing of fixed rates, or as a percentage of each transaction or both. These fees are imposed upon Merchant in order to repay for the usage of the infrastructure of Payment System.
